A few Q & A’s about registration –
(For much more information please see the FAQs)
- How much does it cost to register?
- For our Spring '10 season the registration fee for Tee Ball remains at $90.00. For Training through Junior League the fee is now $100.00, which includes the scorekeeper fee. Challenger Division players pay $55.00. A $3.00 convenience fee will be added to all online registrations. There is a $200.00 maximum registration fee per family ("Family Max") and scholarships are available to those who qualify. If you need more information about scholarships, click on the Contact button above and send us a message. We'll get in touch to discuss your needs.
- Why did the registration cost increase for Training League and up for this Spring?
- In a way it didn't. For convenience we have now rolled the scorekeeper fee into the season registration fee, so everyone in those age-level leagues are overall paying the same (even less, perhaps) as last Spring season. Since there are now scorekeepers in Tee Ball their registration fee did not change.
- What is the "Family Max" program?
- LCB continues to offer a registration cost benefit to those families and households who are registering more than two players. We charge the full fee for the first two players up to a maximum of $200.00, and the third player and beyond do not pay for registration. Please note that we limit to $200.00 how much a family or household contributes. For those who qualify for a reduced-fee scholarship there may be fees involved for the third and fourth player.
- Which age-level league should my child play in?
- For those new to LCB, our leagues are set up by ages, more specifically, "league age". If you think your child should play at a higher or lower age level league, please note this on the online registration form in the Comments area, or note your preference on the printed registration form at walk-up registration. For those returning to LCB, the same considerations apply. Normally a player spends two Spring seasons at a particular age level, then moves up.
- How do I determine my child's "league age"?
- Your child's league is his or her age as of April 30 of each year. Click here to see a league age chart for the current season.
- Tell me more about shirt sizes.
- The registration forms use youth and adult tee-shirt size indications. Some people are more familiar with the sizing system found in stores for youth sizes, so here’s a cross-reference:
- The uniform shirts we supply are a cotton/polyester blend, therefore there will minimal shrinkage with repeated washing and drying. Remember also that the Spring season can be 3 to 5 months long and some kids will grow during that period, so we suggest you select a shirt size a little larger than what your child is currently wearing.
- Some more notes on shirt sizes -
- We continue to use the same brands and model shirts for our players and adult volunteers. For Tee Ball, Training League and Challenger Division we use a Gildan G800 Ultra Blend, and for Minor, Major and Junior League we use Soffe models B206 and M206 (youth and adult) 2-button shirts, which are a 5.5 oz. cotton/poly blend. Over the years we've experimented with other brands and fabrics, including 100% cotton and the modern wicking materials but found that these Gildan and Soffe models give us the best combination of durability, economy, consistency in sizing and colors than any others. Rather than jumping from brand to brand in search of saving a few pennies we prefer to remain with these brands and models to obtain consistent sizes and colors. That said, we still occasionally hear the "shirts seem to be running small" statement. There could be many explanations for this, but more than likely the player has outgrown a particular size and the parents haven't noticed. We strongly suggest the parents look at last season's shirt as a guide for what to do this season. It might be best to select the next size up: the season is long, and they'll probably grow into it.
