Safety & Insurance

Safety

The safety of your child is of primary importance to Lakeland City Baseball. Our affiliation with Little League gives us the tools and resources to ensure we properly design and run our program with the health and safety of our players in mind.

All adults who will have more than incidental contact with players are required to complete and submit a Little League Volunteer Application and undergo a background check on a yearly basis. Each applicant goes through a national criminal background search which includes checking against sexual offender lists in every state that provides them.

Little League encourages their chartered leagues to complete a comprehensive safety review of their program which includes site surveys, procedural reviews and certification by the league Safety Officer. That program is called the ASAP Safety Awareness Program, and we are proud to say that LCB has submitted its safety plan to Little League every year on a timely basis and received its ASAP certification in return.

Little League’s Child Protection Program provides guidance to leagues and parents on how best to care for children involved in youth sports activities and how to spot a child sex offender.

There are many resources available on Little League’s website relating to safety, as well as a thorough description of the Child Protection Program ASAP Safety Program. Please visit Little League's Child Safety information page:

Insurance

Lakeland City Baseball participates in the Little League Insurance Program, which is designed to afford protection to all participants at the most economical cost to the local league. The Little League Player Accident Policy is an excess coverage, accident-only plan to be used as a supplement to other insurance carried under a family policy or insurance provided by the parent’s employer. If there is no primary coverage, Little League insurance will provide benefits for eligible charges, up to usual and customary allowances for the area, after a $50.00 deductible per claim, up to the maximum stated benefits.
